Clothes Show London

"Some people believe the world of fashion to be shallow, when in fact it is very deep and the deeper you go, the better you become" - Christian Dior

What an important quotation when observing the brilliant artistspringboard.com talent at this years CSL. The designers taking centre stage were Alice Vandy, Britt Beale and Leah Hartnell and by the looks of things they managed to do a sterling job. The deeper these designers travel into the fashion cosmos the better, they are all wonderfully creative and talented individuals.

Unfortunately I could not attend the Clothes Show London, but have had a fantastic second hand run-down of the event and more importantly, our fantastic designers.

Alice Vandy's work was very well received, her individual style was key as was her ambition with her work being showcased in three scene crossing from Tokyo to Rome. Well done Miss Vandy.

Britt Beale's eccentric and varied enthusiasm for all things British was a brilliant addition to the showcase. Beale's work is riddled with classic British connotations from the drummer boy to her gorgeous decorative carousel horse design.

Leah Hartnell's passion for gorgeous femininity oozes from her garments. They all revolve around the use of delicate laces, silks and delicate crystal beading. Very chic, very pretty and very well done.

Leah Hartnell

The work from all three designers was a massive success. Designer collections from Fred Perry, Jaeger, Hobbs and Levis were all also on show, Alice Vandy, Britt Beale and Leah Hartnell's work stood extremely proud next to these fashion heavy weights. Congratulations to all three for their magnificent work.

Yanick Dery

This photographer's resume is outstanding. Yanick Dery's photography is recognised as some of the most modern and beautiful work across the globe hence his massive reputation. Having worked with Tag, Donna Karan, Cosmopolitan and Redbull, Dery's shots are varied, stylish and utterly gorgeous. Having tried my best at some fashion photography last week I struggled to keep generating ideas, settings and poses for my models until a friend recommended Yanick's work.

Each picture seems to offer such different attributes whilst still managing to remain natural and cool. In the pictures posted above, Dery has masterfully combined fashion with fauna resulting in a stunning still of pure beauty. I really enjoyed looking through his portfolio. An extremely talented individual offering something very different to others.

Ed, Ted and Teddy.

Occasionally, you find something really special on the internet. There is a tonne of garbage at every corner, but when you find that something, you know your time spent surfing has been worth it. In this case, it's the Teddy Boys and not just some faux hipsters, the real thing. Style oozing from every grizzly inch of their skin, these guys have seen and done it all and, have managed to stay cool the whole time. Sometimes when I read and see things like this, I question whether or not I was made for this time or whether I should have been mixing it up back in the day with these cats. Lord I know which one I would prefer, even for just a day.

Stella stuff for this winter.

Stella McCartney - Autumn/Winter 2010 - 11

A beautiful combination of neutrals for McCartney's 2010 Au/Wi. Simple linear lines fused with with gorgeous greys and blacks to present the usual sleek chic we are used to from the talented Stella. Lateral black and "nude" stripes seem to be a repeated feature, definitely a trend alert for the extremely fashion conscious. Also, a wonderful low v-neck feature which has yet to grace high street vendor's collections.

McCartney has created a wonderfully simple and attractive pret-a-porter collection for next season. A professional and formal combination for those woman who feel the need to look great 24/7.

The Creators Project

Intel and Vice magazine have hooked up and created something brilliant; The Creators Project. A portal where a variety of incredible artists from across the globe have united and submitted snippets of their work (for free) on this website.

From graffiti artists to DJs, the project is determined to bring new and fantastic talent to you the viewer. Digest each segment with intent to learn because its worth every second.

Alexandre Herchcovitch is a Brazilian designer working in Sao Paolo and Tokyo. His work is fantastic and most importantly, it is wildly varied. One season it's all about intense monochrome and then the next, lashings of colour and shape. Please use the link below to watch his short and sweet biography, it is really very good.

Friday, for him.

My friend Simon would wear something like this, he loves his fly sweaters and hi top sneaks. It's fair to say this look is a popular one, but with the addition of some top brands, you can definitely stand apart from the masses.

Billionaire Boys Club are a brand synonymous with cash and comfort. If you want to look like you have a lot and do little, then wear BBC, it is the done thing i'm afraid. Vision Street Wear have been kicking around for some time, but their 80s throwback hi tops are to be treasured, I love them. Garnish with a pair of pale skinnys, a phat belt, geeky specs and a gorgeous bowled trilby. This outfit is hip, it's rad, it's gnarly, down, ghetto and punk...

The Monday Mix-up

Trilby time.
Leather shorts?!

This summer sun really brings out the beauty in people. People seem to smile more, have a kick in their step and generally seem happier. Times like these call for light and airy clothing with gorgeous design and this weeks mix-up is precisely that.

A Wildfox tee from coggles.com with a gorgeous Reiss blouse accompany a smart cream trilby upstairs. Downstairs are a ratherexpensive but interesting pair of leather (yes, leather) shorts! Wacky and perhaps a little sweaty but really different. The Hush Puppies seemed an obvious choice providing height, comfort and style. Finishing the look is a cheap and cheerful belt from asos.com and a pair of Pixie Lott-esque Ray Bans to make sure you shine as bright as this brilliant British sunshine.
